The stunning combination of wildflower-covered hillsides and the snowcapped Rockie Mountains make this a classic! Plus: you will have the chance to participate actively in catching, brushing and saddling to connect with your horse and to learn about mountain horsemanship.

6 Hour Full Day Ride with Lunch

Can't get enough from the "smell and feel" of horses? This ride will take care of you: great riding, super views, delicious saddle bag lunch, naps on the mountain and a "cool" dip in a creek pool.

10 Hour Alpine X-TREME Ride

You are an experienced rider and are looking for the "real thing" in terms of backcountry riding? On this ride of a lifetime your will ride up to 8000 feet elevation on very steep trails. Expect to be amazed by the skill and strength of your mountain horse, the feeling of untouched wilderness and the most magnificent mountain scenery ever! For experienced riders only.

Backcountry PackHorse Rides

DATE: Available upon request only - starting with the last week in August until the end of September.
GROUP SIZE: You need to sign up a minimum of 3 people in order to make a trip possible. Maximum: 5 guests.
LENGTH OF TRIP : You can choose from a minimum of 2 nights and 3 days ("Weekender") up to a maximumin of 4 nights and 5 days ("Explorer"). Transport from Lodge to trailhead, horses, tents and all meals.
WHAT TO BRING: Warm, but light sleeping bag, hiking boots, layered clothing, rain gear, flashlight, gloves, hat, sunscreen, water bottle, camera

Wagon Rides

1 Hour Wagon Ride

Bring family and friends and enjoy the ease and fun of a wagon ride with our strong Belgium/Quarterhorses Jim and Jay!
The wagon ride lasts about 1hr, so does the campfire fun afterwards. Departure time is flexible and depends on time of year, temperature and your group's schedule. The wagon seats 6-8 people, but bigger groups can be easily accommodated.

Guided Hikes

Guided Hike

You are in awe about the Rocky Mountains and would like to explore what it feels like to be on top of them? For a minimum of 4 guests you can book one of our experienced guides to take you on a full day hike to alpine ridges and mountain peaks. Be rewarded with magnificent views and a swim in a crystal clear mountain lake. Transportation from Kimberley BC, interpretive guide and lunch is included. Full day.

Summer Accommodations

Night in Teepee

Connect with Mother Earth and spend a night in the magical circle of a traditional North American Indian Tepee. A beautiful fir floor keeps you dry, while the fireplace in the centre sets the right mood. Cuddle up in your cozy sleeping bags while sharing stories by the fire.

Sleeps up to 6 and includes a hearty breakfast in the morning. Washrooms can be used inside the Lodge and any of the above adventures can be added on to your stay.

B&B at the Lodge

Enjoy the comfort and serene atmosphere of our mountain home during your visit in the Kootenay Valley! After a home-cooked and nourishing breakfast you can explore the historical town Fort Steele, the friendly city of Kimberley BC or the Hot Springs in Fairmont - all which can be reached in less than an hours drive from Spirit Trail Lodge.
